Microsoft redesigns icons for Windows 10 Look to modernize

Microsoft has redesigned its entire set of system icons for Windows 10. The newly redesigned Windows 10 icons have added depth and color. The new icons will be rolled out in a phased manner. The redesigned app icons are currently available to Fast Ring examiners of Windows 10 and will soon be rolled out on all users in some days.

Apps including Calculator, Groove Music, Mail, Voice Recorder, Alarms & Clock, Movies & TV, and Calendar are the first built-in apps to get the newly redesigned looks and soon, over hundreds of existing apps will get the icons updated. The newest development appears days after the company declared several updates at Microsoft 365 Developer Day event for its upcoming Windows 10X operating system.

Christina Koehn, a design manager for Windows and Devices at Microsoft, exposed that the renewed icons are designed to feel familiar and look similar, all while “honoring” the company’s legacy. Several redesigned icons still bear the traditional shades of blue of Microsoft.
